Goggles with Built-in Heads-Up GPS Display

Throw in an ammo counter and a life bar, and consider it sold!

If only real-life could be like a videogame. Sure, you'd be limited to a 16:9 field of vision, but think of the benefits. With a quick glance at the corner of your eye, you'd be able to check your health, the bullets left in your gun, and your current location. Of course, the former two might not be relevant to anybody who's not in a war zone or a zombie apocalypse. At least location-at-a-glance is now a reality, thanks to this pair of goggles courtesy of Recon Instruments and Zeal Optics.

The Transcend's built in heads-up display features full GPS capabilities and projects a Google maps overlay, so you'll never get lost again. It also has a speedometer, altimeter and odometer. Chunky buttons  on the right side of the frame allow you to toggle through its different modes with ease. Plus, you can download all that information to your computer through its handy USB port.

Recon Instruments developed the Transcend primarily for use in the fast-paced world of winter sports. Not surprising, since they're based in Canada. It also explains the need to have a speedometer and altimeter, as well as the oversized control pad. Let's just hope somebody can do a little re-programming to add in all the other stats we'd expect from a HUD. After all, who's to say you won't need to know how much ammo you have left? The zombies could come at anytime and anyplace, even in a ski resort.
