Samsung Asks U.S. To Probe Into Rival Sharp

Seoul (South Korea) - On December 21, South Korean based Samsung Electronics Corporation asked the U.S. authorities to investigate its rival, Japanese Sharp, on alleged unfair trade practices and patent infringement. Samsung claims Sharp imported and sold LCD products which infringed on their patents.

Samsung is demanding damages and an immediate halt to all manufacturing and sales of affected TVs and display panels with the disputed LCD components. Sharp filed a similar suit against Samsung in August. The two companies have a history of litigation and legal allegations related to new technologies.
