3. SkyDrive: Drag and Drop
You don’t have to make brand-new documents on SkyDrive. Instead, you can upload the ones you already have (click the Add files option in the folder you want to use). There’s a basic uploader for choosing up to five files, but if you’re using Internet Explorer 8, you’ll get the option of using this drag-and-drop page and dragging files in from an Explorer window. You can also click "Select files from your computer" to get a File dialog (or choose "Standard uploader").
You can’t upload a hierarchy of files in folders, but just the files themselves. However, you can create folders and move files into them on SkyDrive but this is much more inelegant than using a document library like SharePoint. The business versions of the Office Web apps are based on SharePoint so they will probably have more powerful file transfer tools, but the Word Web tools are simple and straightforward.

What if you don't have a New menu in your skydrive?
James, if you don't see the new New menu, you don't have access to the Office Web apps technical preview - it is a very limited, invitation only preview, but you might find it appears if you upload files to the Documents folder.
Bah, I have not used Office products for several years now and have not missed them one bit. This is not going to get me to try anytime soon.
