Microsoft: We Didn't Buy "Pornography" Term
Supposedly typing "pornography" into Google's search bar brings up Bing advertisements, however Microsoft said it didn't purchase the term.
Is Microsoft's Bing the ideal search engine for finding porn? That was a question asked yesterday, especially in regards to Bing's "excellent" video search results and the difficulties in blocking said results. Microsoft employees, according to TechCrunch, has even claimed that the porn search feature is an "unintended byproduct of good video search."
To make matters worse, Bing ads are now showing up on Google when the results for the "pornography" query are displayed. Is this on purpose or merely a coincidence? Did Microsoft actually purchase that particular word? TechCrunch didn't think it to be a coincidence given Bing's capabilities. However, Microsoft didn't think too kindly of the idea, and has denied ownership of the term.
“Microsoft has not purchased the keyword ‘pornography,’ and this term has never been in our AdWords account," said the company in an email. "It is our policy on the Bing marketing team that we do not have any adult content as part of any of our keyword buys or other marketing campaigns. The keyword that seems to be triggering these results is ‘free videos.’ We are following up with Google to understand why this ad is showing up in these types of queries.”
As of this writing, Bing adverts do show up using "free videos," however Bing does not appear when using "pornography." Perhaps Google has already addressed the issue.

Maybe it's because a lot of people search porn on bing?
Didn't something similar happen days into it's launch?

That is the one good use of bing though...
i dont even need to be connected to the internet to search the worlds largest porn collection.
To make matters worse? You mean it's bad that Bing gets great video search results. Because of porn? If they're better than Google
then that's a big plus for MS. And porn is big on the net so it may be
publicly frowned on by MS but they're smiling in the office.
Searching "pornography" on Bing gives 80,500,000 results with Safe Search on Moderate and 75,700,000 results with Safe Search Off.

Microsoft, please, PIMP my internet!
i think google had to have been behind this.

I rather not see your ass unless ya a gal. I rather see boobs!!
the cake was a lie!
I'm curious about how did they find this out
"Pornography" being tied to "free videos", and thus triggering Bing's advertisement is probably a feature of AdWords in general. Google always thinking ahead.
That said, I'd be wary of any sites returned on the term "pornography". Likely scam or virus-hosting websites preying on people who are inexperienced enough with sex or the internet to actually search "pornography".
