14. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3

Can you believe that some photo enthusiasts have been photoshopping for 20 years? Time flies. For DSLR owners with gobs of shots to manipulate, there’s no better editing and organizing option than Adobe’s new Photoshop Lightroom 3. This software is for people who consider themselves to be on the pro side of pro-sumer: they shoot headshots for friends in their free time, act like the real deal at the weddings of family and friends, and tweak photos until they’re large-size frame worthy.

Here’s what makes Lightroom 3 a step up from Adobe’s Elements and competitors’ software: RAW file support, batch processing features, and easy organization and publishing.

DSLR sensors produce information-rich RAW files, and only Lightroom is up to the task of handling all the data in those files—things that make images look warm and detailed--without dumbing them down in the process. Keep in mind that this version of Lightroom can make these changes to many files at once, and quickly. It will also adeptly reduce noise in a image, sharpen it, and remove distortion. Lightroom has information about the lens used to take each shot—a dossier on its physical weaknesses that it will use to bolster the image.

Once you’re done editing, Lightroom makes quick work of sending files into a nifty slideshow videos, sending them to a shared folder, exporting them to a smartphone, uploading them to Flickr, or printing them in a plethora of different varieties.

During a photoshoot, photographers with Nikon or Canon DSLRs can “tether” their cameras to a laptop running Lightroom: images save directly to the computer and show up on screen ready for reviewing, rather than being locked away on a memory card. Guess how we shot this holiday photoshoot.

First non-spammer to post!!!!!

Anyway, for me I'd gladly take the ladies over all those things combined; those ladies are, indeed, very pretty. :)

Yeah, I'd take any of those girls over the tech, but particularly the blonde in the red santa clause outfit. She can sit on my lap anytime. :-)

Not to be nitpicky but the one in the green needs to lay off the spray tanning. It's a little uneven in spots.
