Logitech recently retired its legendary Z5500 speaker system, and its replacement is here in the Z906. This new system builds off of its predecessors while including awesome perks like SPDIF (digital optical) output, a revamped control system, and enough inputs to cover all of your bases.

The Z906, like any 5.1 system, sports five speakers and a subwoofer. The sub comes in at 165 watts, while the speakers are rated at 67 W each, for a total of 500 W RMS. The system is THX certified, and can handle Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS and 3D Stereo decoding.

While most computer speakers are chained to your devices via 3.5 audio jacks, the Z906 has two digital optical inputs, one coaxial optical input, RCA, and 3.5mm. All of the inputs, the speaker connections and the control box run through the subwoofer cabinet. All of these inputs, combined with an RF remote for the couch potato crowd, makes the Z906 a perfect companion for your computer OR your grads’ modest home theater setup.
