Here it is, the arrival of iPorn.
The approval process for Apple’s App Store has been at the center of a lot of controversy. At times it’s been far too lenient (Shaken Babies, anyone?) and other times its known to have been far too harsh (rejecting a twitter app because people swear in their Tweets?), but nudity has always been a no-no. That was, until today.
As of today, the iPhone application Hottest Girls features more than busty chicks in their underwear or swimsuits. Originally only showing pictures of women in lingerie or bikinis, the developers this week uploaded more pictures (bringing the total to over 2,200) which include topless and semi-nude photos.
Naturally not everyone is pleased about the application. Miranda Suit, co-founder of the voluntary watchdog MediaMarch told the DailyMail that she feels the application is disastrous. "We are very concerned about the mainstreaming of pornography," she said. "It is being packaged in a tempting way and will be disastrous for youngsters who are not equipped to deal with such content."
Those purchasing the $1.99 application must be 17 years of age or older. Apple has told the DailyMail that it is considering its response to the reaction received by Hottest Girls.
How many of you think this kind of application is acceptable for the App Store? Let us know in the comments below!

iPorn App Pulled for Causing...

Censorship is for parents, not Apple. Sure, it's questionable, but how is it any different from porn sites or a google search? At least that's free.
Parents should regulate what their kids see, not a computer company.
I'd say let it be.. what's stopping them from google imaging "tits" in their safari browser?
OMG, human nature, wanting to look at boobies, the horror!!!!!!!!!!! Let's stick to games where you shoot people, and other good, clean, Christian fun for the whole family....
PS: Nobody is going to make you download that app if you don't want it...
+1
And while we are on the topic, why is it that sexuality is so hush-hush. animals are naked 24/7 and hump in public. Perhaps they have it right! In all seriousness, If a parent is worried about content on the internet, why would they buy their child a smartphone? Also, why wouldn't they advise their children about such topics. Most kids will make more informed decisions if they are more aware.
it is acceptable, though inappropriate for youngsters, which is where the parent needs to be responsible for the child (why does a youngster need an iphone anyway - i think that's inappropriate)

Yup. That about sums it up.
there are FAAAR worse things in the world for teens than few naked pics...
like talking about dangers of premarital sex in front of their friends...
escorting them to movie theater and walking with them so that they are not buying R-rated movie instead of PG-13 like they say they would...
cleaning their face with your saliva and napkin in public...
Man I could get free and nastier porn when I was 16
Lol youngsters are not equipped? As long as they have a penis and a right hand i'm pretty sure they're equipped for it.
It's already gone from iTunes, THG is always a bit behind. They are busy reading other news sites for updates.
It's a shame that harmless apps like this are so controversial. There is nothing wrong with sexy pictures of the human body.
And like others have said, I'm pretty sure you have to be at least 18 to buy a phone and get a contract with a major phone provider, so adults are the only ones who have the power to buy a phone and have access to this stuff.
I don't need people telling me what I can and cannot access. I can live my own life. I can make my own decisions. I don't need the FCC or some group of wackos (also known as the FCC) telling me what is good for me and what is not and holding my hand through every step of life.
If Apple doesn't want the app then they have every right to deny it. It's their service. I just fear we take baby steps toward regulating information.
In school it's alright to give 13 year old kids condoms and teach them about safe sex, but it's not okay to look at a picture of a topless woman in private on a phone. Oooookay.

Sometimes I go left for a little Ménage à trois action.
America and its ultra-conservative, puritanical views. Are people aware that across the pond, there is nudity on broadcast television, the equivalent of our FOX, ABC, and CBS. The horror, the horror.
And children may not be equipped to handle such images. Come on. They have sex-ed classes in 6th grade now. I'm pretty sure they are more than equipped to handle it. The moral majority just doesn't want that to get out into the open.
Mainstreaming of porn? Hey Miranda, porn was mainstream 20 years ago.
If anyone would have looked into this at all, instead of jumping straight on the Apple bashing wagon, they would have read that the authors of the application issued a release stating that they requested that it be pulled from the app store because their servers cannot meet the demand of the picture requests. They grossly under-estimated the response they would get with the app and their servers are crashing as a result. It is not Apple censoring anything. Apple pulled the app at the authors request.
This App has already been pulled.
"not equipped to deal with such content."
Are we talking about amputees here?
Silly conservatives.
Miranda Suit needs to shut the hell up. Who honestly cares? Clearly she hasn't been laid in 10 years and wants to make the rest of the world suffer for it.
Like they can't just get their hands on their dads/moms/aunts/uncles/brothers/sisters copies of porn anyway...I don't think apple is censoring though...they would have rejected it before it even went up.
This App has already been pulled.
NICE! I will be getting this App sometime this week on Cydia (for free) now that Apple has removed it.
**Way to go Apple and your crap App store.
As a side note, next week i will b getting a 3Gs and giving my 3g to my 13yr old son. I think the iphone is good, keeps you connected. The internet is not only porn (although im sure he will love that) there is also a lot of resources available.
I don't see any harm in softcore porn.... I wouldn't want him checkin the nasties out though as he may get the wrong impressions.
Where's the Gay Porn app? It is Apple after all
what i find upsetting about it is someone is taking content that you could probably find on google for free and selling it on an app store making $$ for pretty much a junk program that is nothing more than a slideshow of images that the creator paid no royalties for. The people who bought this app wanted to waste $ off their itune's gift card that granma sent them.
If there's anything indecent about this I'd say it's the lack of orginality of the nature of the app and charging $ for something that should be considered free.
(why does a youngster need an iphone anyway - i think that's inappropriate)
my thoughts exactly. the iPhone will rot a young brain faster than seeing a woman's nipple
So what do the women get?
Humans are sexual creatures.
I'll introduce any young male to the wonders of the net given the chance.
I was heavily introduced to pornographic material when I was 6, and it has been persistant since (due to having a sex addicted brother). I think I'm alright. I don't rape, kill, harm anyone. I make sure I was my hands before cooking for groups of people (generally).

Win.
jailbroken iPhones could already have these apps, and the most likely people to jailbreak their iPhone would be kids, doing it away from their parents.
And besides, a Google Search on the iPhone using the Safari browser can turn up mounds of porn anyway. So, what, an app that allows you to directly view the content and costs money versus an app that is bundled with the iPhone is much worse?
