Media reports suggest that Black Friday 2008 could see Cupertino-based Apple launch its most aggressive one day sale to date.
Black Friday is one of those horrible days that no one really likes but can’t stand to miss. Everywhere is so busy and everyone seems to act all crazy and aggressive, but then, everything is so cheap, you’d be crazy not to go crazy for some of the prices out there.
Well, if analysts are to be believed, things with Apple are going to get a little crazier this year. According to Apple Inside, Barclays Capital expects Apple to price its gadgets very competitively for Black Friday and that’s competitively with a capital C, people.
Barclays Capital points out that this season, low-cost notebooks priced around $300 from Dell and other companies will be one of the key pressures for Apple to give hefty discounts this year. There’s also that whole global economic crisis thing. Encouraging people to spend during a time when no one has any money is no easy task, but if you’re going to pull it off, competitive pricing is the way to go about it.
Sales traditionally start at midnight the Thursday before Black Friday and while we haven’t heard anything about sale prices from Apple yet, Barclay Capital Analyst, Ben Reitzes doesn’t seem worried. "We have not seen any Apple Black Friday ads yet (as is customary),” he said. “But expect the company to be more aggressive than usual in its one-day sale, perhaps with $100 off a few Mac models and discounts on several iPods."
It appears that some retailers have already jumped the gun on offering considerable discounts on the shiny, glossy MacBook. Fry’s has chopped off $200, bringing the $1,299 down to a more palatable $1,099.
Update: it was too good to be true, it seems as Fry’s has informed the public that the ad was in error — the $1,099 is for the outgoing black MacBook. Boo.

Too bad Apple can't reach $700 for one day... Now THAT would generate some sales.
Perhaps $100 off SOME notebooks??? That is what is being considered being Competitive with a capital C means to Apple??
I can see the buyers lining up right now to get their hands on that "deeply discounted" $1,900 Macbook pro or $1,200 Macbook... what a deal Apple is giving to us.
Frys = overpriced. The Egg = TY.
Apple = yawn.
Sorry, but I still REFUSE to buy from a company that deletes user's voicing issues off their forums. Besides, my customized home built PC has more style than any crappy Mac# ever had anyway and no amount of Windows bashing marketing is going to convince me otherwise.

Given on certain days if you look at newegg and frys. There prices are very competitive, you just have to keep looking through each week, and frys some times wins over buying things on the egg. Well i hope this black Friday is cheap, especially for electronics. By the way apple sucks, just thought I'd mention that.
Many other online retailers will be having decent sales on laptops and desktops. Although my daughter loves her Apple, they can get a bit pricey. Keep checking this site for online Black Friday deals:

$100 discount on a $1300 notebook does NOT equal Competitive discount, especially considering MUCH lower prices on PC notebooks that have potentially much more power and at least as much stability and security (but that's all in the user anyway...)
Buying a $2000 MAC dude for $1800 bucks is not a deal. Buying a $900 DELL Champ for $400 bucks can be called a deal. MAC, stop being CRACK.
