Apple has submitted a document to patent an "electromagnetic connector for electronic device". The patent covers one most ingenious features, at least from the view of a Windows-laptop owner, Apple is offering with its notebooks: Instead of a traditional power plug, Apple uses a magnetic power plug to connect to its notebooks. The simple effect: If someone falls over your power cord, the notebook isn’t in danger to be pulled down from a table: The magnetic power plug will simply detach by itself.

In the patent application abstract, published on April 1, Apple states: "When the plug and receptacle are brought into proximity, the magnetic attraction between the electromagnet magnet and its complement, whether another magnet or a ferromagnetic material, maintains the contacts in an electrically conductive relationship."
