1. Introduction

While the CoolPix L10’s list price of $119.95 is $10 higher than that of the HP and Kodak cameras reviewed as part of this low-cost digital imaging roundup, we found online pricing that qualified it for our price target of $110. Like the HP and Kodak cameras, the L10 is a five Megapixel camera with a 3X optical zoom. With a 35mm equivalent range of 37.5-112.5mm, the lens has almost exactly the same optical range as that of the Kodak C533. However, the L10 only has a 4X digital zoom - while both of the other cameras had 5X. As with most point-and-shoot cameras in this price range, the L10 avoids any mention of f-stops and apertures and does not let you control the ISP settings. However, you can set both color balance and exposure values. In addition to the Auto mode, which is adequate for most pictures, the CoolPix L10 also has 16 pre-set scene modes - more than either of the other two cameras.
