After cancelling Sprint two yrs ago because of incessant dropped calls, I
switched back after spending those 2 yrs w/ VZW. I liked VZ's coverage but
not their phones, and I was seduced by the new Toshiba VM4050's spectacular
screen enough to sign up knowing I could get out under the 14-day trial
period.

I drove to all the places where I had problems with Sprint coverage before
and though it may not reach the level of VZ, I think it has substantially
improved over what I had before. Whether it's the phone or Sprint's network
has improved (or both), I dunno. (To the poster who warned me in an earlier
thread about getting dropped at Waugh and Fairview every time, I got dropped
the first time, but the phone has held on through two subsequent passes thru
that intersection.)

Though I have heard Sprint's customer service is awful, I have had pretty
good experiences with everyone, including in-store personnel, and *2
customer service and tech support.

I also like the phone a lot. I've heard it knocked as a clumsy, poorly
built handset and no comparison to the venerated Sanyo 5500, but it's
performed well so far for my needs and I'm happy with it, despite a few
shortcomings.

Finally, Vision has worked well and has been reasonably quick for browsing
WAP pages for basic news, sports, and getting email. I'm now 10 days into
my 14-day trial period and have decided to stick with Sprint. I remain a
little wary but if things don't pan out, I can always pay the cancellation
fee and move on....

Try Hillcroft one block north of Bellaire, and behind Lamar High School.

SprintPCS' coverage has improved in Houston over the years. Holes in
coverage in the Clear Lake area seem to have mostly gone away. Its
excellent at the airports, but problematic indoors almost anywhere in
the Medical Center. And getting a call through on 59 inside the loop is
still near impossible if its raining.

If you travel much to New York, you may find that it's the only service
that works down in the subway system.

Try the jone's back yard. Take three steps from the back door and
then dig a 6 foot hole. Jump in and have someone throw the dirt on
you. Then try to make a call. I dropped a call there once.

Please guys, every service has some "spots" that will drop a call. As
you stay with a service you will get to know those "spots." Don't try
to make a very important call when you are going through those areas.
Pretty simple. If you are called, tell them you may drop there call
when you go through a certain area. Please call right back.

I had T-Mobile. Went with them from the Powertell days. All of a
sudden I lost service at my house. They couldn't seem to figure it
out. As my cell phone is my home phone also, I had to change
providers. I went with SprintPCS. I love the service. Works at
home. Few spots in town I drop calls but as I have found out, all
provders have that problem. However, those places are few and far
between.

If your dropped call places are very important to you, then don't stay
with Sprint. But PLEASE don't stay and then start complaining about
those places you knew about.

I love these moderator wanna-bees.

This is a SprintPCS newsgroup isn't it? And if a user is wondering how
good coverage is in Houston, then its certainly appropriate to tell him
what one knows. I listed positives and negatives. Sorry you are
subconciously upset about SprintPCS' coverage.

I love these psychologist wanna-bees.

I don't see anywhere in his post where he wanted to know about
coverage in Houston or anywhere else for that matter. He simply
posted some observations and gave a little insight into his particular
situation. I guess you can look into his mind also. You are really
amazing.

You are correct in this being a SprintPCS newsgroup. As a Sprint
subscriber I have a right to post my opinions also. But I have to
hand it to you. You are one persistant little boy. Have a great day
and keep up the good work. I love reading your posts. I look as
forward to them as I do moderating this newsgroup.

Well you convienently forgot the early part of the thread.

And then as so many here tend to do when they are shown to be wrong,
they then move into insults.

Below is the original. Where did he "ASK" for advice in Houston
coverage? Thanks in advance for your lovely knowledge.

You may also call *2 and tell Claire "dropped calls" to get an automatic
1-minute credit for calls that have been dropped. No need to explain
things to a representative.

Yes, but for you Phillipe, those insights you call insults are well deserved
.... and you've earned every one of them.

Too late. You have questioned The Word According to Phillie, and
your questions shall henceforth be ignored.

He's a prototypical dogmatist that way.
