Incompatible Charger

I have six phones on my business account. Just purchased all new phones and
equipment about six months ago. On one of the I58sr phones, anytime you
plug it into a wall or car charger, a message pops up that says
"Incompatible Charger". The phone then shuts down.

Went down to my local Nextel store and (where I have always purchased my
Nextel equipment) and the guy said it was something wrong inside the phone
(really?) THEN, he says there nothing they can do. I would have to pay $35
to send the phone in to get repaired!

Now this has happened three times with Nextel equipment I have purchased
from this store...yet, they don't want to provide any customer assistance!
So I called Motorola directly and the only thing they could do was ask me to
send it in and they would repair the phone and send it back. How long this
would take is anybody's guess.

So does anyone know what is causing this error and how do you get Nextel to
stand behind their products?

Is the store and actual nextel store? or are they just authorized to sell
their products. A lot of times, these stores will just sell you a cheap
phone charger and try to pass it off as a nextel made charger.

All they sell is Nextel equipment, so I assumed it was. All charges and
supplies have been in Nextel brand boxes. Even so, it's the phones that have
been defective. I tried the problem phone in five different chargers and it
did the same thing on each....incompatible charge. After it charges for
about 40-60 seconds, it shuts down. And if you don't disconnect it, the
entire battery drains in a matter of an hour or two!

Try swapping the battery with one from another phone. I had that
issue once and it ended up being a battery connection issue.

If the problem does go away when you change battery, clean the battery
contacts on the suspected battery with a pencil eraser and try it
again. If it fixes it, great, if not trash the battery.

I have the same problem with my phones too! More so I do work in the dirt a
lot so, at first I thought it was the phone seam's like longer I own the
phone it going the more it's going to do it in 6 month maybe longer after
buying it. So Motorola then sent me the contact cleaning kit which all it
was is a tooth brush to clean the contact under the phone and on your
charger contacts it work in few of our phones by cleaning it. Once it happen
to and to find out I had a bad charger when I got a new charger the problem
went away. What also I did is when you plug in the charger in the phone is
to twist the charging plug a bit to make a better contact but make sure
unplug the charger from the phone so it doe not say "Incompatible charger"
if it still say that it will not charge you phone so make sure it doe not
say that when charging it like doing nothing to it. but try to clean the
contact first then work from there and see what happen.it happen to all our
i90 i60 and i85. it never happen in our older like the i1000 and r370 one
but I hope they fixed it in the newer i530 and i730 it just a pain to deal
with so I feel your pain to. I am not even going to get into about calling
Nextel or the store that's a pain too. Well hope I was helpful and hope it
work out for you.

OK forget the BS I just said just try these steps I get to out of hand
sometimes hahaha
1. Get a tooth Brush and brush the contacts under the phone and also clean
the contacts on the charger too. if that fails
2. when you plug the charger in the phone twist plug a bit and watch the
screen for a few seconds to see if the "Incompatible charger" displays again
if so unplug and plug again.
3. If all fails then check if your charger is still working if you have
another charger try it with the other charger to see the "Incompatible
charger" displays again or not
