these old eyes are having increasing problems with the "free" Verizon
Qualcomm phone I got 18 months ago. Local store just told me to get a
new phone I would HAVE to sign up for a new 2 year contract.
(unacceptable...I am in month 4 of my second 1 year agreement). All I
want in a new phone I can read more clearly. I am pleased with my
plan as it is at present. So.....if I buy a CDMA phone from perhaps
eBay....Verizon will transfer to it? Or am I SOL.

Thanks,

Skeeter

Not only can you do it, but thousands of people do it all the time. As soon
as someone is silly enough to get stuck trying to save (lose) money with new
every two, the verizon SALESPEOPLE (that get a commission) make money (not
verizon the company, but the commissioned salespeople!). Get a compatible
phone any way you want (has to be compatible) whether from ebay/on
sale/relative etc, and you can even do an online ESN change yourself to
activate it rather than call Verizon(go to the verizon website, log in to
vserv, click on activate phone, enter the new ESN, and about 5-10 minutes
later it will be working just fine).

For those that have the older contracts and want to keep their 8PM start
time for nights, I would highly recommend doing the above and just
continuing to extend your contract month to month, instead of going for NE2,
and a new contract with a new start time.

Remember, there is Verizon the company that makes money by you paying for
the service, (and they just want you to keep using the service so they can
keep making money), and the salespeople, that mainly make money from
commissions, by convincing you to go with a new phone/contract/promos
whatever, and don't keep making money when you walk out the door..

Ever call *611 on your cellphone? Guess what, that is Verizon the COMPANY,
and *NOT* the salesperson in your local store!

As for your other probs, I too have problems with my eyesight, along with
arthritis making very hard to hold the phones. All the newer ones now are
even SMALLER! One of the phones I ended up getting off ebay, is a candy bar
style phone with big easy to push buttons, and a bigger Monochrome screen
that is easy to read. (forget the flip phones, they usually have smaller
(and maybe color) screens)

Thanks much, Peter! I agree. I ruled out the flip phones...heck with
so many going to them now I feel like the *unique one" with my "candy
bar"! lol!

Was looking at the Motorola V120e with the blue screen. I saw a Nokia
with a color screen and larger font at the store.

Regardless, I appreciate the feedback!

The v120e's font can be changed and you can have a very large font if
you want. This goes for any of the Motorola V series phones (I've had
a 120c, 120e and now a 60s)

I'm in the same boat. I bought a Moto T730 for that reason - large well
spaced buttons and a large color screen that is easier for me to read.

Plus, it works great!
