Better phonebook for T720

I hate the phonebook that came with my Motorola T720. It is just a
list of names. Two phones for the same person = two listings.

I am used to the folder setup in my Palm and would like something
similar in my phone.

Is there anything available to do that. Could I even download my Palm
phone book into the phone?

TIA

John, I don't know about downloading your Palm address book to the T720, but
here is how to display only one listing for an individual with multiple
phone numbers in your phone book. When you are accessing the phone book,
just click on the menu button and scroll down to select "Setup". There, you
will have to options: "Sort By" and "View". Under "View", select "Primary
Contacts" rather than "All Contacts". Then, the T720 will display only one
line for each contact. When viewing the phone book entries, you can scroll
left or right to display all the phone numbers for one contact.

Thanks, Harold. That is better but I still would like to organize
them into folders.

Hmmm... the "scroll left or right to display all the phone numbers for
one contact." does not work on my phone.

....maybe something to do with software version. I have 1.2.22.44.5P. I
don't even remember where I found out how to do this with my phone
book...probably in this group.

In "Phonebook Setup", do you have "Sort by: Name" and "View: Primary
Contacts"? Then, each name in the "Phonebook" list will be listed once,
and the various entries for that name (as indicated by their icon) are
accessible via left/right scroll.

However, if you go to Phonebook/View, then the full entries are still
one number per screen, scrollable up/down.

I take that the answer to my orginal question "Can I install a better
phonebook?" is no.

Right?

You scroll thru the numbers with the up/down scroll on my T720, not the left/right.

I agree. I had the 721(same as the 720) with AT&T. The phonebook is horrible.

What about under PH.BOOK/<Menu>/Setup,
Sort by: Name
View:primary Contacts

One line per name, left/right scroll to the various entries, as indicated
by icons.
