I use Quicklink mobile software, which works fine.

Several people have used Mobile PhoneTools with success, and I have no
reason to doubt those claims. However, MPT hasn't worked for me.

I have the Mobile Office (is that what it's called?) that gives a calble
that allows you to use you v60s as a modem. Will this work - as far as the
Cable?

And should I have gotten sofware with this that allows backing up the
phonebook?

Yes, and yes. The CD bundled with the Mobile Office Kit contains QuickLink
Mobile Phonebook.

I had lots of problems with Mobile Phone Tools.

Got it working by uninstalling the software; uninstalling all modems;
reinstalling the software (original CD, not the update).

Then, important to start the program, connect the cables with the phone off,
then turn on the phone. When it complains that it can't identify the phone,
choose V60P. I am working now.....

I'll give it a try starting from scratch and making the hardware connection
*before* turning on the phone... nothing to lose at this point but a little
time.

Well, I had it up and running for about 5 minutes. Then it lost the
connection and no matter what I did, I couldn't get it back. Oh well, it was
worth a shot! Tomorrow I'll stop at the Verizon store and get a Mobile
Office Kit. Maybe that will work.

I spoke to motorola tech support and they told me that MPT do not support the v60s.
