GSM phone compatibility source?

Hello:

Looking at getting Circular's GSM service but I'm not happy with the
tiny phones they and all the others offer, having an 8 year old Motorola
analog flip phone (yes, still) as my backup service. However, I need to
know that the GSM phone I purchase on Ebay will work on their New
England system. Is there a list somewhere??

You could ask Cingular what phones they support but if the GSM phone is
unlocked ( or not sim locked to another carrier ) and covers the right band
800Mhz or 1900Mhz it should work. You will need a new Cingular SIM card and
because you don't mind big, look at the world / multi band phones.

As long as it's capable of GSM 850 and GSM 1900 you will be good to
go. If it was used on a system other than cingular's it will have to
be unlocked before you can use it on cingular.

World / multi-band phones are no larger than more limited phones (e.g.,
Ericsson T39m).
