Simply need email capability

I don't need the web, I don't need to take pictures, send or receive
pictures -- I simply need to check my email from time to time and
respond to 1 or 2 a day.
Is there a phone/service that allows me to do this without costing an
arm and a leg.
I don't mind a one-time cost for a phone or pda but don't particularly
want to pay $40 or $50 bucks a month to answer a few emails.
I travel and now have been hooking up the laptop each night in a hotel
room. But I would like to be more responsive to some of my emails.

Also I want to stay within the system -- nothing unethical -- whatever
that means.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks,
I went to the site -- it seems like it is strictly a "text message"
based system and doesn't mention POP3. My email is POP3 trough
earthlink. Would this be covered?

Go back and click on the E-Mail tab.
Looks to me like it will download AOL, MSN, Yahoo and/or two other accounts.
It says all messages are displayed together on the Ogo.

I use Soda Pop Mail, one of the applications you can get with Verizon's Get
It Now system.
You can read and reply to several different POP accounts from your
cellphone. It's only
$2.49/month.

Visit www.sodapopmail.com
