Does anyone know the status of analogue networks in north america ?

Does anyone still sell analogue phones to new customers ?

Has there been a significant reduction of spectrum allocated to analogue ?

Any plans to officially widthdraw analogue service ?

Interesting that networks are talking about G3, but there doesn't seem to be a
peep about what they will do with analogue.

Telus still sells analogue phones in Saskatchewan, No phone has ever talked
about dismantling analog network, no that I know of. Its nice backup to the
digital.

Doesn't the CRTC have some rules about maintaining analog for the
moment?

A coworker's family lives in a small town named Bruno, Saskatchewan. It
turns out that the town is right between three SaskTel Mobility towers.
Some of the phones SaskTel sells now (including hers) are digital only. All
three towers have CDMA 800 on them... but she gets no signal. Her mom's
digital phone works fine in analog mode, albeit with a weak signal (however
the signal is entirely usable). I'd say that analog has some life yet.

This is a newsgroup for a Canadian mobile provider so I assume so...
