Blocked Id (ringing on pickup)

I have been experiencing a very odd thing recently, and it happens on a
daily basis (usually just once a day).

My phone will ring, the caller ID will display "Blocked ID", and if I
answer it, I immedietely hear a phone ringing tone (as if I had just
called someone).

I have been hanging up immedietely, and have never waited long enough
to see if someone answers it, cause I don't know what is going on.

Also I receive (again, usually only once a day Mon-Fri) an "Unknown
ID". And very rarely I recieve a call from all "0"s

Can anyone shed some light on to what these might be?

Thank you!

I've had something similar happen to me awhile back. I was checking my
voicemail when I got an incoming call. I flashed over to take the
call, and simply hung up when I was finished. Soon after, VM called me
back so I could finish checking new messages. I say let it ring next
time until 'someone' answers.

That sounds like a standard telemarketing or sometimes billing ploy. They
use a call dialer to call your number and once it detects pickup it goes
to ring someone(an operator for example) to annoy/talk with you about
either their services or your service with them. Since sadly sprintpcs
won't even list phone numbers of incoming blocked calls on your bill
anymore your best bet would either to wait till they answer or notify
sprintpcs of this. There should be no way for them to charge you, more
then the incoming call costs you, but you should call up sprintpcs and let
them make a note of this problem you are having in-case a billing dispute
comes up in the future.

One other thing to do, is to change your ring settings, to *not* ring or
vibrate on incoming calls with no caller id. If those folks think it's so
important to talk to you, they can leave a VM and a return telephone number.
