We just got 3 of these phones for our family plan and I am now trying to
figure out how everything works. We chose this phone because we just want a
basic phone WITHOUT a camera (it can cause us problems when visiting
customers who do not allow cameras into their facilities.) and it had to be
tri-mode since we spend time in northern Wisconsin where coverage is pretty
spotty.

First - do you HAVE to have wallpaper? I would much prefer a blank screen,
but I can't find any way to turn off this "feature". I had hoped one of the
"screen options" would be a blank screen, but no luck - just stupid
pictures. (And no, I don't have wallpaper on my PC either!)

Where do you connect an external antenna on this phone? I have found
on-line sites that sell an external antenna (or a connector if you have an
antenna) but I can't see where you would connect it - Am I being stupid and
missing something obvious?

Does anyone have any experiences with various data cables and software? The
Verizon kit includes software that doesn't look all that useful. I have
also seen 3rd party (DataPilot) kits that include both the cable and
software - anyone have good/bad info on these?

Thanks for any help.

The Ext ant. hook-up is right beside the regular ant. Pull the little grey
cover off and you will see it.
Verizon's Kit is the one we use and find it very useful. The software just
sets the phone up. Most full time RV'ers who travel all over the country
use it and they can be pretty picky.

Don't know about the wall paper, I just ignore it.

Thank you - I knew I was being blind about the Ext. antenna hookup!

Anyone else have any comments on the data cable/software packages out there
or how to turn off the wallpaper?

Thanks,

Why don't you up-load an image for your background that is just one color?
You might want to do a light color or white (but white may be too broght).
