Lost all settings and programmes...

Have'nt used my PPC for a while, battery was flat also. Upon charging it
'boots up' and I find all settings programmes have gone ??

All pocketpc's will loose everything in RAM storage when the battery
depletes.

If you made a backup, congrats... keep the device on a charger when not
in use... it is not subject to overcharging.

Best tip... use a "backup to storage card" utility... when this happens
again, since many ppc's have it in rom, you can be back in business
within a couple of minutes after recharging.

Most importantly, this type of restore retains the device's partnership
information for the next sync... however, note that restored files may
have different file dates and be subject to loss on either side at the
next sync.

If there is not a backup utility in ROM, copy the utility's cab to the
storage card and you will be back in business about thirty seconds longer.

Its also possible the original posters battery will be bad also after an extended time "flat"...:-(

OK oh well I had nothing on it of any importance. I still have the progs I
installed on the pc so will just have to start over :-(

Sorry if this is a silly question - can I just check - if I leave my PDA in
the cradle even when fully charged, it will do it no damage at all? I
usually take it out when it is fully charged but I would prefer to leave it
in there all the time.

This is a common concern dating from the age of the NiCad batteries. They
are sensitive to overloading. The modern batteries (mostly Lithium based)
do not have this disadvantage.

So *yes*, you can leave it in the cradle without doning it any harm ;>)
