Please can you help after a re-load of windows I have had to re-install
certain programmes including activesync. When I try and connect my HP1940 by
the USB cable I get this message on the pda

'Port not available
Cannot start communications with the desktop computer. Another porogram may
be using the port or it may not be valid.'

Any ideas.

Thank-you

Nigel

Sure, it sounds like you have the "COM Port" option checked. Try this:

Right click on the ActiveSync system tray icon, and choose connection
settings
uncheck all options except for USB
Cradle your PPC and try to sync again

I've noticed that my active sync won't connect if I'm online. Not sure if
this has anything to do with your situation.

P.S. to my last post:

My online issues and not being able to connect to active sync I believe are
Norton Internet Security related. No matter how I seem to handle the alerts,
Norton continues to get in my way.

I'm planning on doing a reformat of my PC early this September. I'm going
research the problem prior to and continue to log off when I need to sync.

It looks to be more of a Windows issue than an Active Sync issue. See what
Device Manager says next time it happens.
