button on the side.

Its in the manual but poke and hold soft reset button then press and release
power button then release soft reset button.

Eric's right on this one. The power button/reset button is a Dell thing. The
iPaqs all seem to use the three finger salute, two outside buttons and the
reset.

You need to put the make/model in the body. Few read Subject/titles.
The 4100 is a bit simpler than iPAQs of old, and are like the new
Axims. Unlike the Axims, though, you don't get a second shot a life
after you do it to it (which is a great feature you have to admit,
though I've never needed it on an iPAQ, but have on an Axim).

strange - the did what the first guy suggested and it did hard reset ?

should I be worried ?

Nah, My bad. I just wish the manufacturers would be consistent. Just with
themselves would be nice. I just got through looking this up for my 2215 and
assumed (you know were that gets you) that my 4155 was the same. I even
tried the power/reset on the 2215 and got just a plain reset. Didn't try it
on the 4155 because I actually use that device

I do like the Dell implementation though. You hit the appropriate buttons
and you get a second chance screen, where you can continue the hard reset,
or cancel it. I have more than once brought an X5 out of a bad lockup,
without loosing data, by starting a hard reset and canceling it.
