Charlie,

Yes, I use it daily on a P/PC 2003. What is the issue you are running into?

Thanks,

it won't install...it looks like it is; yet when i go to run the
application, i get a screen giving me the option to run the demo or pay for
the product. if i elect to run the demo, it locks up and goes no further.

btw, it is installed to the storage card

Charlie,

Mine is installed on a Storage Card as well.

How long have you been running the Demo version? I believe it will behave
the way you have described after 30 days of use without purchase. The demo
should have the desktop version of the product as well. Have you tried to
run it? What it the result? Also, how much Program Memory do you have
available on your Dell? TextMaker likes lots of it so if you don't have
much you may need to adjust it in the Memory applet of your P/PC.

The demo version of the application is their latest build as well. The
products name is technically TextMaker 2002 as that is the year they
released it.

Let me know how it goes.

clinton;

the problem was my impatience. the startup screen and bootup time is slow
for this program...i guess there is a bit of file swapping going on
especially since it is on the card.

anyway, the program is all that one could have ever asked for...better than
just about anything other than a full featured desktop unit.

had to bite the bullet and buy it.

hope the real version is faster; but even if not, meets my needs perfectly.

Charlie,

Good to hear! I agree: The application is slow on startup however I have
found that once it starts it works at a reasonable pace. I've been using
and reviewing TextMaker and PlanMaker (their spreadsheet application) since
they were in beta and every build is a little faster than the last. As a
registered user, SoftMaker will keep you up-to-date on when new builds are
ready.

PlanMaker is excellent as well should you need a spreadsheet application.
Yes I know it is more expensive than some of the competitors but the ability
to password protect and use any formula under the sun is worth it.

Thanks,

It's slow loading on my old Casio EM500 but not unusable--wouldn't have
expected it to be slow on an x30. Are other applications running from
the card also slow--if so might be the card.

Try installing to main memory, it can speed some programs up quite a lot.

Agreed with completely. However, given the install footprint is around 8MB,
most P/PC users don't have enough free main memory to do so. :-D
