IPAQ 6300 vs i-mate PDA2K

Can anyone give me some comparisons between these 2 devices. I am in
Australia waiting for them both to become available and am unsure which one
to wait for.

I need good phone features as well as laptop replacement for short trips. BT
and WiFi are essential.

TIA

Hugh, we have a review of the i-mate PDA2k
(http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=3460) up now, and should
have the h6315 in another week. There's a chart with performance comparison
with other Pocket PCs at
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2028. This will also be
updated when the h6315 review is up.

The good stuff about the PDA2k is the fact that the keyboard is always
there, but not. I explain: if not in use, simply slide it back (check the
pictures in our review). In the h6315 you have to carry the keyboard around
(it's a removable one) or have it permanently attached.

Dear Mauricio,

I had read your review before I posted, and have read reviews of the IPAQ on
several other sites. I am looking forward to some comparisons from someone
who has used both. It sounds like I might get that next week!

Thanks,

Hugh

PS Great site you have Mauricio.

Hugh - I am in Sydney and have used the IMATE Pocket PC for about a 8 months
- got it in Dubai. I have been very happy with it. No problem with emails
even when travelling to the US. I use Bluetooth for Navman application and
love it on the road.I have compressed all my sales videos onto it -with the
large screen it is a great sales tool.
Hope this helps

Ok, the update... I now have the h6315 in my hands. I'm getting used to it,
the style is different from the PDA2k, and of course having a plug-in
keyboard is just another little thing to carry - it's always there with the
PDA2k.

I like the h6315, it's nice to hold, with rubber pads on the sides. The
automatic transition between wireless LAN and GPRS is nice.

Mind you it runs Windows Mobile 2003, while PDA2k run Windows Mobile 2003
OS, and HP already said something about not making an upgrade available.
Things may change, now that this phone is available in the US, and Microsoft
has just announced Windows Media Player 10 Mobile
(http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=3519), which will only be
available on Second Edition devices. If AT&T Wireless launches this device,
it certainly should be able to connect to its new on-line music store, which
is compatible with WMP10. But don't hold your breath.

Looking forward to a full review. Comparing specs is one thing, getting a
feel for the real differences is another!

Thanks for the advice. I'm sure there will now be lots of questions here as
I try to work out how to use it.
