CF sized Wi Fi card for the iPAC

I noticed recently these items available for purchase, but the prices were
all in $ dollars.

Who sells these in the UK so that I may convert my PocketPC to be WiFi
enabled and then have the facility to read internet news etc (at Starbucks -
not).

My usual 'shops' only seem to sell modems.

Expansys though good for servive are expensive. I bought my ambicom wl1100
cf card from peripheral corner - www.peripheralcorner.co.uk though right at
this minute the site is down. It was 56 quid inc vat and delivery and it
works very well with my Ipaq H2210 and is widely regarded as being a good
'un. I had a d-link 660w before and it gave me hassle.

That's my two pennies worth.

Buy the D-Link DCF 660W from expansys. I have one and it works really well
with both my iPaq 3630 and my Asus A620BT. And it doesn't cost an arm and a
leg (and it's dead easy to set up)!

Hmm, well I got a Veo SD camera off them, and it cost about the same
£GBP as Dell sold for $USD - but Dell UK don't stock them, and Dell US
think the UK is a terrorist country and won't export.

I guess if you want the latest & greatest, you pays your dues.

Definitely they do good service - fast online help replies, and very
very quick delivery (like, next morning from a 4pm order !)

Will just do a quick company check and probably order this one.

I notice however very little (in fact none) CF sized cards will do the
802.11g format, only doing 802.11b. Not that speed will make a great
difference but more for being a bit more future proof or if a "hotspot"
happens only to have the better (g) version.

As I understand it 54g requires PC Card 2 pcmcia that is not supported
by mobile devices, this type of card is identified by a gold coloured
strip along the interface end.

But luckily we in the UK don't have to pay expansys's prices though. We got
dabs.co.uk, and savastore.com, and peripheralcorner.co.uk,
simplycomputers.co.uk and a host of other less expensive sites.

I used to order from them till I found they were overpriced on stuff I could
get elsewhere. YMMV of course.

I think you'll find that was the guardian paper, who were asking
people to send voting suggestions to yanks ;-)

D-Link air 660W @ £46.95 with Expansys. No problems with setup or
compatibilty.

Have you had a look at www.ebuyer.com? Their own brand CF wi-fi card (made
by Senao) is only about £20, and works well, so long as you install the
CE3.00 drivers, even on an iPaq running Ppc2003.
