Dell Axims

Does anybody know if the Dell Axims have the Terminal Services Client
software installed on it? The Axims come with Windows 2000 Mobile 2nd
edition and I thought that it comes with the OS software. BUT when I spoke
with a Dell representative, he first told me that it was not included. Then
he said he was unsure. Does anybody know for sure?

Thanks,
Jasper

Jasper,

I own a Dell Axim X30. I just turned it on and found a "Terminal
Services Client" program. It runs, but since I have no need for it, I
can't swear that it will fit your bill.

I've got 10 Dell X30 Axims with Windows Pocket PC 2003 SE and they have
terminal service client on them default. I think it's always included with
the Pocket PC software. Tried it at home with my 2003 server and it worked,
but it's not practical. Try to fit your monitor in that little screen, I
can't work with all that scrolling :p

We've about covered the X30s in the other posts. My X50v has it as well, and
it is almost useable, landscape and 660x480 :)

How's it for speed? I'm thinking about getting a pocket PC for amongst many
other uses, a remote control for an audio/video server with no monitor or
keyboard next to my tv and hifi. Just waiting for DELL to release the
X50's here in Japan....

I haven't had it that long, but my impression is that I'm not awed by it's
speed. It certainly is no slouch and considering it is moving four times as
many pixels around, it's respectable. For your application, it's a shame
that Microsoft's Remote Displays didn't catch on. They were a little pricey,
but maybe there are still some around.

Was curious if you could still find these. Actually they were SmartDisplays
and guess what...

I think that would make a heck of a remote for a media system.

Nope, sure don't. I'm frankly surprised I still found the Smart Displays. At
the price the are dumping them at, they might have caught on. As it was, at
twice that price, they gathered dust on the shelves.
