Is this a bug?

Hello,

Windows XP SP 2 and Windows Mobile 2003 on a HP Ipaq 2210

I have noticed that if I stream any internet audio down the line via Windows
Media Player and and then I close Meida player via the circled x at the tp
right hand of the screen the audio stream does not stop, the only way I can
close the stream is via Settings/Memory/Running Programs and then an end
task.

Surely when closing wm9 on ppc this should stop the stream?

thanks,

td.

As the response said you aren't really closing the program, but more like
minimizing it. However, there is an option to pause playing when in other
programs. I have mp10 now on this device, but it is found at menu\options\
playback. IIRC it was sorta similar on 9.

You might want to check out some free task managers to make it easier to
remove programs from memory that refuse to play nice with memory- which is
practically all ms apps due to a design methodology that some (myself
included ) wish they would reduce and treat the devices as the capable
pocketable pc, not a pim.

02, unrequested even. ;)

Tools - Settings - Audio & Video...
Audio : While using another program:
Contiue playback or Pause playback.
So, this is not a bug, it is a user selectable option.

So that's what we're calling bugs nowadays - 'user selectable options'.
I used to work at a major entertainment & recreation complex in Orlando.
Each time I brought up a gripe about new functionality that clashed with
existing functionality, the typical response was that it was a 'TRAINING
ISSUE'.

No it's not a bug. Its a new thing we have on PPCs called multitasking. Its
a really cool feature where you can listen to some tunes, while working on a
spreadsheet or reading e-mail, or surfing the web. The design of the PPC
since day one has been to background tasks with the X, not close them.
Right, wrong or indifferent, that's by design. Giving you the option of
pausing playback, and that is pausing, not closing the app, when switching
to another app, is a user selectable option.

Tapping on the (X) in the upper right corner of programs on a Pocket PC is
not the same as clicking on the [X] on your desktop computer. The former
just hides the program, whereas the latter actually closes it.
On a PocketPC, the memory management is supposed to close the program
whenever it feels like it.

OR - It's not a bug, just previously undocumented functionality that
we've included as a bonus.

The Toshiba model has a Home app. Unfortunately on my e800 model it has a
bug (a real bug as apposed to a feature) , the list of running tasks is
sometimes blank even when there are running tasks that show up in System -
memory - running tasks.

Maybe its not a bug afterall, there's always the possibility that your
e800 has simply forgotten what's running.
