GPS Ideas

I have noticed a useful program that can utilise scanned maps etc. called
GPS IDEAS. All the info that I can find is a bit old - the latest version
available to download is v1.5 - is it still supported?

Does anybody use it? If so can you tell me if it will switch maps when you
go past the coverage of the one currently selected?

TIA
Chris

I haven't used GPS Ideas to any great extent but there are plenty of others
that offer the same facility to utilise scanned maps which you calibrate
yourself. OziExplorerCE is the most well know but others are Pathaway,
GPSTuner, GPSDash and Vito Smartmap to name but a few. Pathaway is very
good indeed IMHO.

Thanks for that info.
Is there a comparative review of the features of these anywhere?

Not that I am aware of, we have reviewed OziExplorer and Vito Smartmap. A
Pathaway review is under way. For my money Pathaway is the winner with a
superb PC based app for calibrating scanned maps.

Based on such a recommendation what else could I do but download the trial
<vbg> - and, as you say, it is crammed with excellent functionality
(possibly more than I need, but better that way).

One thing that I cannot find is a facility to relocate the maps on the PPC.
Even though the executable has been placed, as requested, on a memory card,
PathAway puts
the maps in My Documents in Main Memory - is there a way to move them?

Can you change the icon for Current Location (GPS) as I find it a little
"low key".

TIA

You can move the maps manually to My Documents on a storage card using File
Manager. I'm sure you can change the Icon but can't recall how now!
