PocketPC Suggestions?

Hi, everyone.

I'm trying to help someone research PocketPCs, and I could use some
buying advice. I'm a Palm person, so I have a good idea how to guide
someone through purchasing a Palm, but PocketPC's come from such
diverse manufacturers that I'm a bit lost.

I'm really only looking for a device that has lots of memory, syncs
e-mail (wireless optional, as the user doesn't have ready access to
Wi-Fi) and one that possibly has a voice recorder.

There's one more necessity: The device in question has to sync with
GroupWise, so if there's some 3rd-party solution I could look at, I
could use suggestions for that, too.

Thanks,

Brian

My recommendation, based on your needs, would be the Dell Axim X50v.

Best of luck in your search!

Thanks for the suggestion!

I should have made this caveat: The user specifically said she didn't
want an Axim. She is looking for something a little less bulky. I'm
not sure how thin PocketPC's get. I know a Palm would be slimmer, but
like I said, Palm is out of the question.

If you can get your hands on an HP 4150, they are very nice, and
fairly cheap as they are an older model.

Thanks, Bruce.

That model looks close to what she needs. Do you know of software that
will let it connect with GroupWise?

Intellisync is one - it's considered expensive by some, but it should do the
job:
http://www.intellisync.com/go/products/client-synchronization/intellisync-handheld-edition/index.cfm

There may be others - I've used IntelliSync on both Palms and Pocket PCs for
several years, so haven't really looked for other solutions.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the link! It looks like IntelliSync will do the trick.

Well, there's been a change of plans. After explaining the options,
I've been given the OK to look at Palms. I'm strongly leaning towards
a Tungsten T3 at this point. Her old PocketPC (an HP) had a voice
recorder, so I know that will come in handy, and it doesn't have a lot
of the frills that she wouldn't want to pay for in a PocketPC.
