The only thing you can do in that regard (if you pay for the line) is to check the bill when you get it. Usually they'll list the numbers who sent the text message.

um yeah only if postpaid. now i hope you know what postpaid is.

in my country,

Postpaid: Billing type connection, you get some advantages and some disadvantages, like line rent for the package you selected, have to security deposit 5000Rs (50 some dollars) if you want to make international calls.

Prepaid: No bills, just scratch a card that you get from any store worth Rs. 100, 300, 500 and 1000. (1.5, 2.5, 6.5 and near 13 dollars) and just load it. No security deposits to make international calls.

Postpaid has advantages of itemized billing (as he wrote) you get all the info (of course you have to pay every month for itemized billing) that how many sms you sent, how many calls, to which numbers, for how much duration, which number is the most called (mobile and landlines).
