Galaxy SIII SGH-i747 on Tmobile 4G data?

I purchased an SGH-i747 Galaxy SIII (AT&T Version) off contract from AT&T. I have unlocked the phone and purchased a SIM activation kit from Tmobile. I am hoping to activate the Tmobile SIM, and use the $30 monthly 4G prepaid plan (100 minutes, unlim. texting, unlim. data with first 5GB 4G).

I have read in a few places that the Tmobile 4G data is not compatible with the SGH-i747 AT&T Galaxy SIII. I am wondering - will this plan work with the unlocked phone? Will I get 4G data instead of EDGE?

Thanks,
Nick Rubin

Yes, this will work. I just called T Mobile and they state for a fact that the AT&T version of the Galaxy S3 will work with their service as long as you first have your phone unlocked. I might leave Straight Talk...

Yes, this will work. I just called T Mobile and they state for a fact that the AT&T version of the Galaxy S3 will work with their service as long as you first have your phone unlocked. I might leave Straight Talk and pay $20 more per month to go with the $70 per month no contract plan at T Mobile that allows 5 gig data useage. I presently only pay $50 per month with Straight Talk but they throttle your data speed if you exceed some unknown amount of data useage.... they say they offer unlmited data but they reallly don't ...

your phone will work with t-mobile.
BUT the problem is it will only work on edge speed not on 4g speed. you have to will till 2013 when tmobile hopefully upgrade to LTE.

why t-mobile 4gGnot work on I747?
T-Mobile use
2g GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3g/4g HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100

att use
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
4G Network LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 2100

tmobile use 1700 MHz for their 3G/4G and I747 does not support 1700 MHz.

but the good new tmobile is in proceess upgrade their tower to work on lte network by mid 2013 then it will support LTE network 700 MHz Class 17 / 2100
hope this will help

I'm facing the same problem. I have an actual Tmo gal s but would like to upgrade to the sii to take advantage of the larger screen size. I can purchase a new ATT Skyrocket 4g for $200 but I've been told as you state that the phone will work but not 4g capable. Your answer makes perfect sense. If I interpret this correctly the missing 1700 MHz band is what prevents the ATT phone from working presently at 4g speeds on the TMo network?? I presume this would be true of all ATT phones attempting to run at 4g on TMo. Would you be kind enough to confirm this? Thank you for the detailed information.

Hi, I clicked here bc I wanted to see if the I747 was AT&T or T-Mobile, I guess they both have it, but reason for my reply is both of you two, talk about switch to T-Mobile and my company is a partner if T-Mobile, and we offer an even better plan, unlimited talk text and data for just $49/month (right now promo is running and its just $39 for first three months) either way, our strategic partner charges $70 and only gives you I belie eve 500mb of data on the 4g (like T-Mobile, any gsm phone can be used, AT&T of course has to be unlocked)
I can mail a free sim card, if you're uncomfortable wiyh that, theyre just $9 through the company. Let me know 2404221839
Oh, and if anyone has an answer to my question, that'd be great too lol is the sgh I747 offered on both companies?
