N97mini memory card suddendly lost all texts msgs

Hello, Can anyone help me with a solution to get me text msgs back that were stored on my memory card. It suddenly lost all the texts, but kept the photos/videos etc/ What happened? How can i get my texts back? I got a memory reader and plugged into the laptop but the texts arnt there!

No, the battery had gone dead - i plugged it in the charger - turned it on as normal and all my texts had just vanished, along with some photos. I will try your suggestion - i called nokia as well and they were hopeless with any advice
