Gateway nv58 how to unlock function key

Hello, my function key is locked on this machine, so when i type a question mark it gives me a big e acute accent - how do i lock and unlock the function key on this machine please

Hold down the left control and the right shift key for about 5 seconds and try again. It might take a few attempts but this is a pretty common way of toggling that function.

Very annoying how it keeps switching on, isn't it?
