I'm looking to buy a new laptop from PCSpecialist.co.uk and have narrowed it down to the following few builds:

--- Option 1 ---

Genesis III: 15.6" Glossy Full HD LED 16:9 Widescreen (1920x1080)
Intel® Core™i5 Dual Core Mobile Processor i5-2450M (2.50GHz) 3MB
8GB SAMSUNG 1333MHz SODIMM DDR3 MEMORY (2 x 4GB)
nVIDIA® GeForce® GT 630M - 1GB DDR3 Video RAM - DirectX® 11
500GB WD SCORPIO BLACK WD5000BPKT, SATA 3 Gb/s, 16MB CACHE (7200 rpm)

£564

Or with:
Intel® Core™i5 Dual Core Mobile Processor i5-2520M (2.50GHz) 3MB

£604

--- Option 2 ---

Optimus II: 15.6" Glossy Full HD LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Intel® Core™i5 Dual Core Mobile Processor i5-2450M (2.50GHz) 3MB
8GB SAMSUNG 1333MHz SODIMM DDR3 MEMORY (2 x 4GB)
nVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M - 2GB DDR3 Video RAM - DirectX® 11
500GB WD SCORPIO BLACK WD5000BPKT, SATA 3 Gb/s, 16MB CACHE (7200 rpm)

£648

I was wondering which of these builds you thought offered the best value for money.

The impression I get from looking at it, is that adding the i2520 to the first build probably isn't worth the extra £40, leaving the £564 build vs the £648 one.

Then it all just comes down to the graphics card... Is the GT 255M worth spending the extra £80 over the GT 630M? I will mainly use this computer for some Photoshop/Illustrator work, watching videos and occasional gaming.

If you have any other thoughts or suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Agree. Probably not an extra £40's worth of performance in the different CPU. Certainly not to where you'd be able to notice an improvement.

Photoshop/Illustrator work, home office / home entertainment work, you'd not see much improvement choosing the GT 555M.
Gaming on the other hand, yes, it would be a significant upgrade. Especially considering the 1920x1080 screen resolution.

Have a specific game in mind?

Thanks for your reply, the link was particularly useful.

I'm leaning towards the GT 555M after looking at some framerates. While I'm not looking to play the very latest games, it does seem significantly better than the GT 630M. Cheers.
