How do I track my stolen Android tablet? I do not have a tracking app installed on it. However it is linked to my google account and I do have the IMEI number. Please help! I only had it for a week and the police were of zero help! I know who stole it but she denies it! :pfff:

I was going to suggest you remotely install Plan B through your google account, but apparently it does not work with current Android operating systems (Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean). However, if you installed an antivirus program like LookOut before it was stolen, then you can at least track it.

The IMEI number cannot be used to track a mobile device by itself. It's purpose is to merely identify the mobile device to a wireless network. IMEI numbers are typically used on GSM networks so I'll assume you have 3G service for it through AT&T. You can call customer service to report you device as stolen so they can blacklist the IMEI number, thus blocking the device from access the network.

How does she know your password? Did you give it to her or did you not set one up?

Do you have a contract for the Sim? If so, go speak to your carrier, this is if you are in UK anyways.

They will be able to block the Sim, and disable the IMEI from ever being able to go on network again. But finding it, not very likely, thats what Insurance is for!, You have a ploice case number already I take it, so half work done.

This might help. Contact your carrier to see if they have a way to track it.

Thank-you! I didn't have it connected to a server...just used current WiFi connection. I only had it for about a week and since it was mainly for my 4 year old son I didn't add a password. Going forward I will install an app to track any device I have. The police did absolutely nothing for me as always it seems around here. I will try to contact our WiFi carrier and see if they can black list the IEM. They forgot to steal the charger so maybe they are too broke to buy one ad its dead! One can only hope! Thank-you to everyone for your responses!
