Well, I just bought an ATi X850 Pro from Bestbuy (though I'm a 'lil bummed out that I can't unlock the extra four pipelines :( ). But, being a past Nvidia person, I do not know what average temps I should expect from an ATi card. My ATi Tool reports temps up to 73 degrees Celsius when gaming!!! Is that the normal gaming temp for ATi?

Hi,

Just got the same card a week ago. I would say it runs roughly with those temps as well. Cools down really quickly though when not under load.

The next thing is to check those extra pipes, never done that, let's see if I screw things up... Any way to check if the pipes are ok with software before any hc stuff?

Do you have the links for flashing it? I don't think there is a way to check beforehand, but it doesn't take long to flash it to the X850XT/PE and then flash it back to an X850 Pro. (Once you download the right DOS Bios...)But don't take my word for it, go to these links to find out more:

Note: I downloaded the DOS 6.21 version from this page:
http://bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm

and then I made a boot disk. Afterwards, you have to unzip/extract the flashrom and ATi zip files to the floppy. The links provide the rest of the info.
