Saphire HD 6950 shader unlock question

Hey all thanks in advance.

I recently purchase the Saphire HD 6950 below it has the dual bios and has reportedly been unlocked. I booted to default position one and showed 1408 shaders in GPU-Z, I then booted to the alternate position and it still showed 1408 shaders. I then proceed to dump the bios and use RBE to modify it to unlock the 6970 shaders and used atiflash to flash the modded bios to the alternate position. My question does anyone know of another method to unlock or is it as I suspect that the shaders are hardware locked and if so does anyone know of a confirmed working 6950 that will unlock so I can return/exchange this one.

Return that one and buy a 7970 for $530... OR you can get Sapphire 6950 "Dirt 3 Edition" and unlock it... If you dont want to, You can try to search the one with the Sapphire 6950 Dirt 3 Edition at guru and follow their step...

I followed the instructions for the Dirt 3 edition, and no luck the bios flashes successfully but no unlocked shaders. I read up on the posts at GUR and it seems like this card is the same as the Dirt 3 edition without the game card and HDMI cable(same SKU anyways). When does the 7970 go on retail?

There's only limited video card of the 7970 in stock on Dec 22nd as a gift and the actual release date is Jan 9th... The price for the 7970 is $530 and the 7950 price is $440... It is said that 7970 is 80% faster than GTx 580 awhile the fastest single GPU on Nvidia side, GTx 6xx(I think it's 7xx) is close to the performance of GTx 590 and HD 6990... Kepler will come out in Q2-Q4 of 2012 Fastest GPU for kepler is out in Q4 close to 2013 awhile Radeon 6970 is ganna be out Q1 Jan 9th 2011 ..
