GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3 advanced bios features locked

Hello community,
Recently I have been trying to unlock the 3 and 4 cores on my AMD phenom II x-555 BE and I discovered through otehr threads that even though my motherboard does not have ACC I can still do this through the "core unlock" feature in advanced bios options. My problem is that when i press enter to go into advanced bios features I can move up or down to get to the core unlock feature, I am for some reason frozen on "hard disk boot priority" I have tried cntrl/alt/shift f1 to access secret menu options and to no avail. If anyone else has had this problem or knows how to solve it I would greatly appreciate the help. It is entirely possible im missing something simple.

If you try to quit the main BIOS screen, does it give you the option to select Advanced?

im not quite sure what you mean. I am able to select "Advanced bios Features" but cannot go any farther. several other features in the bios menu are greyed out as well.
