Mobo Gigabyte X58-A-UD5, CPU i7 920 Do
I submitted this question to Gigabyte tech. support.
How do i unlock the 21x multiplier? I set bios but when I reboot it only will let the 20x multiplier apply. Or, is turbo enabled raise the multiplier to 21x

Their reply was "It should auto detect by default, is the cpu not detecting properly during post?
With the Intel turbo boost technology it will auto detect by default."

I don't understand what they are refering too or what they are saying.

Could someone decipher this answer?

Thanks the noob.

Yes if you turn turbo on you will get 21x, other wise 20x. So you can basically add 140 mhz to the clock rate. Make sure you test and make sure it's stable with the extra speed.

21 is available through turbo boost exclusively on the i7 920. That means under normal load the computer will use 20 or less and essentially overclock it's self with the 21 multiplier depending on the cpu work load.

So, when I overclock to 4.08 I should use the 20x multiplier (I am using the multiplier 20x with bsclk of 204 with success). I have disabled turboboost. Everytime I use 21 and disable turboboost I only achieve 20x multiplier upon windows boot. And If I enable turboboost it will then hit 21x?
Thanks the noob.
