Formatting-External drive not found... on xbox one/pc or mac

I just got a Samsung M3 portable 1TB drive... I hooked it up to my xbox one and it gave me the option to format for media or games and apps.... I picked games and apps it formatted but when I go to storage its not there, when I go to back up and transfer it says external drive not found. So I connected it to a pc and tried to reformat it but it only shows up for short time and when I get to click it...… it says cant format to look up how to change rad only files.... it wont let me access it no matter what I do.. when I go into the DOS mode still nothing found so im at a lost. PLEASE HELP if anyone knows what is my next step

sound like the drive failed. replace it

Well I also tried formatting for pics videos and media and it actually shows up on the Xbox. ( go figure ) but whenever I try to change it back to games and apps it just don't. While in media mode I tried to connect it to pc and says can't format read only. Therefore I'm super confused
