Hello,

I've been having some weird hanging issues with my Verizon Samsung Galaxy s5. My friend with a Verizon Galaxy J7 is having similar issues. I've installed 'simple system monitor' and when my phone is super unresponsive I bring up the monitor and it shows that the drive read is maxing out. My friend reports the same issue and checked it the same way. No process using more of the processor than simple system monitor. I have installed malwarebytes antimalware and it's not finding anything weird. Is there any other software that might tell me what applications are pegging the 'internal storage' read.

Another random issue that I cant seem to figure out. Last night after I loaded some music onto the sd card my phone was saturating my 1mbps of upload without any sort of indicator that it was backing up to a cloud. I had to restart it. It was super slow to come back on, but it did, and then a few minutes later it started uploading again. Very creepy! I want to imagine there's some normal process going on in the background but it's frustrating to me that there would be such a lack of notifications.

Thank you for your tips and time,
-Miles

Solution
Sounds like you may have a virus, malware or bad app on the device. Start it up in "Safe Mode" and see if this happens. You won't have access to most stuff, but you will be able to see if things run OK. If they do, the you have one of those things and need to remove the cause.

To get into "Safe Mode" please do the following.

1. First turn off the phone.

2. Next press and hold "Power" until you see the manufacturers logo on the screen, then release the power button.

3. "Quickly" press "Volume Down" and hold it for few seconds until you see the message "Safe mode: ON" or something similar.

4. If you wanted disable it, simply repeat the steps above, and you should see "Safe Mode: OFF" rather than on.
