The irony being an autoplay ad started when reading the article.

I'd rather they made it mute by default. Even better, block videos from loading at all unless I clear a site as OK. It's a real pain having to clear sites in uMatrix and NoScript. Since it often isn't clear which scripts are necessary for a page to work and which are annoying ads or trackers.

That's not good. Videos on Tom's Guide aren't supposed to autoplay with sound. I'm going to forward this onto the appropriate people make sure this gets looked into.
