Tor Browser failed to install

I tried to download Tor Browser (not the bundle) from its home site. Download seemed to go okay, and file opened okay, but when I got to the 'connect to tor' part, it froze half-way through...after half-hour I aborted, and uninstalled. I am curious why it failed. I'm running XP Pro. Do I need to download an older version, and if so, which one? Is my PC not modern enough (I have a Dell Intel Core2)? I guess its not a big deal if Tor Browser is a lost cause, as TAILS works for me, but I'd still like to know what went wrong.

Your problem is most likely that you are still running Windows XP. Very little software that you download will work for that OS. If you have to use that browser, update your OS at least to Windows 7, Windows 10 being preferable as it is the newest.
