Leagoo Z5 Phone

I have a leagoo Z5 phone that works on gsm carriers. The only one I could work in this area is Selectel (Verizon) I tried to switch the sim card from the selectel phone (LG) to a Leagoo phone but I got an error saying it couldn't find any carriers at all. I'm sorry to say I am an old guy (70) years so I am a little behind the times. If any one can help me it would be appreciated.
