Photos got lost

My photos were not transferred back to my phone, are they gone for good?

That depends on where you transferred them to from the phone (that you tried to transfer them back from). I would check the location (computer, other device, cloud account, etc.) and see if they are still in that. Also, try restarting the phone and see if they show up after that. Sometimes you have to restart the device after the transfer.
