gear vr vs any vr box

i have a vr box with galaxy s4 and when i try to watch anything in the vr i can see my phones edges the frame body and the vr exprience is very poor i didnt like it ....is this normal?
is the gear vr with a galaxy s6 or s7 will be the same thing that i will see my phones edges?

Generally yes, if you look off to the side you will always see a blank space where your phone's screen ends.
Unless you're using a Vive or Rift with a wider FOV and better hardware this will always be the case.
This is evident even with the S8 Gear VR.
