what can i do when samsung s4 does not read sims card

my sims is new the store put it in and tried to activate the phone It did not show the sims card it stated no sims card can I do something

Well, there could be a few reason.

First, the SIM could be damaged or flawed and not work. It happens, even with new ones.

Second, you could have a damaged SIM port.

Third, if this is a phone you already had, from another provider, that could be your problem as well. If the providers aren't compatible (which happens more than people realize) that could explain the SIM not working.
