Ok can't find my contacts

I got a new phone and I can't retrieve my contacts from Gmail account

The only way they would be in a gmail account is if you had synced them from your prior device, and updated them regularly. If not, then they would not be in the account.

You could also save them (if you have the old phone) from that phone to a computer and then put them on the new phone.
