I am in the market for a new laptop, and in my country (PH), these two are my best bets. Which is better? I'm mostly geared towards Gaming. Especially newer releases such as the upcoming Tekken 7 (Unreal 4) and the likes. I would like something that would last longer and perform better in the long run. I understand the GTX 970M is better, but the first option has a better Processor, Faster RAM, and an extra SSD (Which I could just buy and put in the 2nd option?) Between these two; which is better? (I'm not sure whether or not I can buy the faster RAM and SSD for the second option, as I am a student and I barely have any money to upgrade.)

First Option:
Asus ROG GL552VW-DH74
Windows 10 64-Bit
6th Gen Intel Core i7-6700HQ (Skylake)
15.6 Full HD IPS Anti-Glare Display (1920x1080)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GB GDDR5
16GB DDR4 2133Mhz Memory
128GB M.2 SSD + 1TB 7200RPM HDD

Second Option:
Asus ROG G751JT-WH71
Windows 10 64-bit
4th Gen Intel Core i7-4720HQ (Haswell)
17.3 FHD IPS G-Sync Anti-Glare Display (1920x1080)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3GB GDDR5
16GB DDR3 1600Mhz Memory
1TB 7200RPM HDD

These are the games I would like to play:
TEKKEN 7
DARK SOULS III
ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM LE
FALLOUT 4
GRAND THEFT AUTO V
ASSASSIN'S CREED 4, UNITY, AND SYNDICATE
COUNTER STRIKE: GLOBAL OFFENSIVE
DRAGON NEST
MORTAL KOMBAT X
KILLING FLOOR 2
ROCKET LEAGUE
DIABLO III

Hopefully someone can help me decide, thanks!

memory speed does not really matter, and if your just gaming, id say the second one. the 4720hq is only a tiny bit slower than they 6700hq, and since the 970m will perform about 70% better than the 960m, the second one seems like a better deal. also, a 17.3 inch display is much more worth it, you won't regret getting a bigger screen.

I agree! In addition, the second model is probably of a sturdier build due to the extra weight compared to the first one.

Hopefully portability isn't a major factor for the OP.

^Best Answer. Can't choose because I unchecked the "Request a Solution" and this was posted as a discussion ; _ ;

Thank you guys so much for the help! I don't mind the extra weight. It's a desktop replacement. I'll only bring it outside when needed in college.

I have decided to add to my budget so I can afford the Asus ROG Strix GL502VT instead:
Windows 10 64-Bit
6th Gen Intel Core i7-6700HQ (Skylake)
15.6 Full HD IPS Anti-Glare Display (1920x1080)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3GB GDDR5
16GB DDR4 2133Mhz Memory
1TB 7200RPM HDD

But at least now I've learned something. It's that CPU and RAM speed wont affect gaming too much if it isn't a bottleneck to the GPU.

Thanks again! :3
